Why invest in Porto
Second city, lower entry price
Porto offers a large urban market at a lower price per square metre than Lisbon, which widens the choice for a given budget.
A university and services city
The University of Porto and the city's hospitals and services sector bring steady demand from students and professionals.
Heritage that draws visitors
The historic centre and the Douro riverfront are a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a major destination, supporting short-stay demand where licensing allows it.
A wider metropolitan market
Vila Nova de Gaia and Matosinhos, across the river and on the coast, add alternatives to the city itself.

No. The direct real-estate route to the Golden Visa closed in October 2023. As of 2026 the Golden Visa is obtained through other investments, such as regulated investment funds.
