Smith & Adams is a Lisbon-based real estate investment advisory firm. We give investors an independent view of the Portuguese property market, then go further: coordinating an end-to-end solution across planning, development, construction, and property management, so a single advisory relationship covers the full lifecycle of the investment.

We coordinate immigration and legal services for clients pursuing Golden Visa or D2 Visa residency, working alongside specialised law firms and regulated partners to manage the visa process, property transaction, and family inclusion end to end.
Asset & Property Management
For properties we’ve advised on, and for independent owners, we manage every asset to maximise its yield potential, backed by a proven track record of over 90% occupancy across our short-term rental portfolio. From tenant relations and maintenance to financial reporting, we handle the day-to-day so ownership from abroad stays genuinely hands-off.
George Hobson leads investment and strategy at Smith & Adams, setting how the group reads the Portuguese market and how each investment is structured - from the first appraisal through to handover and management.
He has spent more than a decade in Portuguese real estate. As a senior investment broker in Lisbon he advised international buyers on residential and yield-focused acquisitions, and earlier built and ran his own brokerage in the Algarve - giving him a view of the market from the ground up, in both regions where foreign capital concentrates.
That experience sits behind the way the group works: independent advice first, held to a single standard the whole way through.
We built Smith & Adams around one idea: that you should be able to own property in Portugal without having to become an expert in Portugal.
Most investors arrive with the same two questions - is this a good asset, and who looks after it once I have bought it? Answering only the first is what the market usually offers. We give an independent read on the Portuguese property market and then stay on: planning, development, construction and management sit inside the same relationship, so nobody hands you off at the point where the work actually starts.
Portugal earns the attention. It offers residency routes into the European Union for both entrepreneurs and passive investors, a legal system that treats foreign ownership the same as domestic, and cities where the demand for good, well-run housing has outrun the supply of it. That combination is rarer than it sounds.
What we ask you to judge us on is evidence rather than argument. More than 1,000 investors, over €300M placed and 300+ assets under management - and, on this site, the occupancy of our own buildings with the dates and the source attached. If a number matters to your decision, you should be able to see where it came from.
